We can state that Plug-and-Produce has the potential to bring significant cost savings for manufacturing companies by increasing production efficiency and reducing reconfiguring times and manual effort. However, the concept suffers from a lack of standardization across manufacturing processes and equipment and the absence of standardized interfaces and protocols, especially in brown field environments and standardization.
